The Paulownia Tree is Truly Magical
The Paulownia trees many features make it the primary candidate for reforestation. The Paulownia tree has beautiful large leaves, beautiful flowers (up to 6 cm in diameter) and a beautiful crown. - It has up to 10 times the capacity of a regular tree to capture carbon dioxide (CO2). - The Paulownia tree generates 4 x the amount of oxygen (O2) to other regular trees, - One Paulownia tree captures 98 kg of CO2 per year. - 1 acre planted with 450 Paulownia trees absorbs 44 metric ton of CO2 per year. - The Paulownia tree grows and matures extremely fast and can be felled multiple times before having to be replanted. - Paulownia timber is considered to be a valuable commodity in a wide range of industries. - Paulownia's high ignition temperature and regeneration ability makes it ideally suited to be planted in areas where wildfires are a regular occurrence. - Paulownia leaves (foliage mass) are often used for fattening of cattle (cows, sheep, goats, etc.). - Extracts from the leaves are included in the composition of medicines, creams and perfumes. - From one hectare of Paulownia trees it is possible to have bees harvest 800 kg of honey. - Paulownia's edible flowers are a part of some European restaurant menus. - Agroforestry, the Paulownia tree is suitable to plant amongst other crops such as wheat and corn. - Paulownia tree strong resistance to diseases and insect pests makes it ideal for reforestation. - In the energy sector the Paulownia tree is used for biofuel, biogas bioethanol, pellets, and timber chips.
